Johncom CEO ousted. Media points to Moolman

The suspension of Johncom CEO Connie Molusi on Tuesday could have more to do with his resistance to giving up the company to Terry Moolman's Caxton than with "nonperformance", as claimed by the Johncom board, sources and media analysts say.

Another large shareholder, Gavin Joubert, portfolio manager at Coronation Fund Managers, said it was strange that the reason given was performance-related. “It’s difficult to point out what is exactly due to Connie, managers or the economy. But the fact is there’s been a significant operational improvement. The CEO must take acknowledgement for that. The reason that it’s performance-based is strange and as a shareholder I would require clarity of that reasoning.”

Johncom’s lucrative print contract with the Indie Group ended a few months ago, and Molusi has been blocking the natural move to Caxton. He has been arguing that any move should be part of a wider deal with Caxton. Move the printing and Moolman will have what he really wants.
